The Treis-Karden is a passenger ship of the Kolb Gebr. Passenger Shipping Company with home port of Cochem . It is mainly used in regular services between Cochem and Beilstein on the Moselle .

history

The ship was built in 1970 at the Oberwinter shipyard and initially sailed as the Rhineland for the Hebel line in Boppard on the Middle Rhine . Since 2004 the ship has been part of the passenger shipping company Gebr. Kolb as Treis-Karden .

The ship was lengthened to 40.00 m in 1976 at the shipyard in Mainz-Mombach and was 6.80 m wide. At that time it was approved for up to 250 passengers. After extensive renovation work from 2008 to 2016, the number was increased to 600 people. Due to the lower bridge clearance height of the Moselle and the height of the ship of around 8.40 m, the new wheelhouse can be lowered by 1.00 m.

Technical specifications

The Treis-Karden is 50.85 meters long, 10.52 meters wide and has a draft of 1.30 meters. The ship is powered by two KMD-DAF marine diesel engines with 375 kW each, which act on two electrically controlled Schottel rudder propellers . As a maneuvering aid, the ship is equipped with a bow thruster , a rotatable pump jet drive with around 200 kW power. The ship has two diesel generators to generate electricity .

Decks and equipment

The Treis card has three decks :

  • In the lower closed main deck 142 seats, a kitchen, bar and toilets.
  • In the middle deck there is another counter, approx. 156 seats in the closed area and approx. 148 seats in the outside area.
  • There is also a counter on the upper deck and around 257 seats behind the steering position .

The ship is suitable for transporting people with reduced mobility and has a passenger elevator .
