Ezekiel Trey Moore (born April 6, 1975 in Houston , Texas ) is a retired American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Moore played successfully as a professional in the British Basketball League (BBL), in which he was twice named " Most Valuable Player " (MVP) in 2005 and 2009. With his respective teams he won twice the regular season and the play-offs of the BBL.

Career

Moore first studied at Paris Junior College in Paris (Texas) , where he was awarded the "Carroll Dawson Cup" in 1995 as the best player of the team. In 1996 he continued his studies at Mississippi State University , where he played for the college team Bulldogs in the Southeastern Conference of the NCAA . The Bulldogs had previously achieved the greatest success in basketball history when they defeated serial winners Kentucky Wildcats in the SEC championship tournament and advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA statewide finals . They could not continue this success in the following two seasons with Moore. Moore was also not considered in the NBA Draft after retiring from college .

Moore's first professional engagement was in the 1999/2000 season with the Black Hills Gold from Rapid City in the "International Basketball Association" (IBA), which shortly thereafter merged into the re-established Continental Basketball Association . After this first season Moore was hired by the Harlem Globetrotters show team. He was then registered in a rather insignificant league for a team in Texas before he got a contract with the BBL in December 2003 with the Bullets from Birmingham . However, this BBL franchise was in decline. As the bottom of the table, you only achieved two victories this season. Moore was able to draw attention to himself through strong individual performances and got a contract with the cup winner Jets from Chester for the following season . With this team he reached first place after the regular 2004/05 season and was awarded the “ top scorer ” of the BBL as the season's MVP. In the final of the play-offs, however, they lost by three points against the Newcastle Eagles, against whom they had already lost in the semi-finals of the BBL Trophy after extra time and missed defending their title in this competition.

For the 2005/06 season Moore went to the People's Republic of China and played for the Qilins from Shaanxi in the Chinese Basketball Association . In 2006 he was back in his US homeland and played in Jacksonville for the JAM in the ABA . In February 2007 he got a six-week contract in the French league LNB Pro A at Illkirch-Graffenstaden Basket from Strasbourg , before returning to the Jets in the BBL in the 2007/08 season. However, the jets found themselves in a financially tense situation, which was also noticeable in terms of sport in missing the play-offs. For the following season 2008/09 Moore moved to the former main round winner Eagles from Newcastle , with whom he won the BBL Trophy and the regular season, whereupon Moore was again awarded as MVP of the season. In the play-offs they won the final with three points difference against the Everton Tigers, against whom they had lost in the semi-finals of the League Cup BBL Cup and missed the total triumph with all title wins. Moore switched to the Tigers from Everton for the new season . In the semifinals of the BBL Trophy they lost against the defending champion Eagles, who also won the regular season. In the play-offs, however, you could clearly defeat the Eagles twice in the semi-finals and secure the title with the final victory over the Glasgow Rocks . Moore went back to the Newcastle Eagles for the following 2010/11 season, but they were eliminated in the cup competitions against the team now operating as Mersey Tigers . In the semi-finals of the play-offs they were eliminated as second in the main round against league cup winners Sheffield Sharks . Moore, who was once again considered the best player of the BBL season by the journalists, had to pass at the end of the season on the one hand because of a foot injury and on the other hand because of a suspension due to insulting the referee, which extended beyond the end of the season. Subsequently, Moore did not get a new contract with the BBL. In 2012 Moore won the runner-up in the SEBL Summer Basketball League with the outlaw from Marietta (Georgia) .
