Triangular Series in Sri Lanka of the 2009 season

The Triangular Series in Sri Lanka of the 2009 season was a three-nation tournament that was held from September 8 to 19, 2009 in Sri Lanka in one-day cricket . In addition to the host, teams from India and New Zealand took part in the tournament, which was part of the 2009 international cricket season . In the final India was able to prevail against Sri Lanka with 46 runs.

prehistory

The tournament was held in Sri Lanka immediately after the New Zealand Tour and served as preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2009 , which followed immediately. The tournament replaced the previously planned ODIs of the tour.

format

In a preliminary round, each team played against each other once. There were four points for a win, two points for a draw or no result. Bonus points were also awarded. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
