Tropeço (occasionally Tropêço ) is a town and municipality in Portugal .

history

The community came into being during the Reconquista . A first church in Tropeço has been documented since 1148, from which today's parish church Igreja de Santa Marinha emerged . King D. Afonso Henriques made Tropeço the seat of an early administrative district ( Couto ) in March 1171 , which was dissolved again in the 13th century, in the course of territorial reorganization between the Monastery of Lafões and the Monastery of Paço de Sousa.
