Troy Verges is a country music songwriter . He was nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Oscar .
Life
Troy Verges grew up in Louisiana and played guitar since he was 10 and in bands from 14. After high school , he moved to Murfreesboro , Tennessee to study music economics at Middle Tennessee State University . After a while he moved to Belmont University in Nashville . It was here that he began writing songs before he even graduated. The starting point was an internship at the music production company Patrick Joseph Music . He received his first recording contract shortly before graduating from Belmont University.
He wrote chart music for Jessica Andrews , Martina McBride , Hunter Hayes , Carrie Underwood , Kenny Chesney and Kellie Pickler . He wrote songs for stars like Taylor Swift , Bon Jovi and Celine Dion .

- Oscar ( 2011 ): Nomination with Tom Douglas and Hillary Lindsey in the category Best Song for Coming Home from Country Strong (2010). Coming Home was sung by Gwyneth Paltrow in the film . However, Verges lost to Randy Newman with We Belong Together from Toy Story 3 .
- Golden Globes 2011 : Nomination together with Tom Douglas and Hillary Lindseyal's best film song for Coming Home in Country Strong . But he had to admit defeat to Diane Warren , who was awarded for You Haven't Seen the Last of Me from burlesque .
- World Soundtrack Awards 2011: Nomination for the best movie song ( Coming Home from Country Strong ).
