Trudy Duburiya (born January 13, 1976 ) is a former Nauruan athlete . At the World Athletics Championships in 1991 she represented her homeland together with her twin brother Tryson Duburiya .

life and career

On August 26, 1991, the 15-year-old Duburiya finished eighth and last in the sixth heat over 100 meters in a time of 14.34 seconds at the World Championships held in the Tokyo National Stadium . Among the 58 participants in the preliminary heats, only Faouzia Djaffar from Comoros and Terhani Kirby from Marians were slower. A month later Duburiya took part in the South Pacific Games and failed there over 200 meters (31.03 s) as well as on the 400-meter course (1: 11.78 min) in the semi-finals. In March 1993 she did not reach the finals at the Youth Oceania Championships (U-18) both over 100 meters (14.18 s) and over 200 meters (29.46 s). In the 400 meter final, Duburiya came in sixth in 1: 10.95 minutes, leaving her compatriots Wenona Steven and Kili Akaiy behind. At the South Pacific Mini Games in December 1993, the Nauru woman was eliminated again in the lead over 100 meters (14.48 s) and reached the semi-finals over 200 meters (30.38 s and 29.73 s).

In 1994 Duburiya took part in the Micronesia Games in Mangilao (Guam) and achieved the following results:

  • 100 meters: fifth place (13.5 s and 14.2 s)
  • 200 meters: fifth place (28.7 s and 29.2 s)
  • 400 meters: bronze (1: 06.5 min and 1: 05.9 min)

In 1998 Duburiya took part in the Micronesia Games in Koror (Palau) and achieved the following results:

Duburiya comes from the Iruwa . She comes from the Anetan district and has been married to Michael Aroi since 1999, and in February 2000 she had a son.
