Trudy Ship

Trudy Ship (born February 4, 1944 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American film editor who was responsible for the film editing of over 20 cinema productions in her 40-year film career . These included films like House of Games , The Nudes , Mr. Holland's Opus , 101 Dalmatians and Rock Star .

life and career

Trudy Ship, born in Los Angeles in 1944 as the daughter of the Canadian playwright and screenwriter Reuben Ship, began her editing career in the 1970s, initially as an assistant in films such as The Sleeper , Lenny or The Eyes of Laura Mars . In the early 1980s she assisted the editor Evan A. Lottman on cinema productions such as Sophie's Decision and The Muppets Conquer Manhattan , or Michael Kahn on Ulu Grosbard's romantic drama Falling for Love , before directing Alan J. Pakula as editor for his thriller in 1986 Dream Lover hired.

She then worked as an editor for films such as House of Games by David Mamet (1987), The Man in the Moon by Robert Mulligan (1991), Traces of Red by Andy Wolk (1992), The Files again for director Alan J. Pakula ( 1993), as well as the cinema productions Mr. Holland's Opus (1995), The Guru (1998), Rock Star (2001) and Life or something like that (2002) for director Stephen Herek .

In 2007 she engaged the director Daniel Waters for his comedy Sex and Death 101 with Simon Baker in the leading role. In 2010 she worked for the John Doyle drama Main Street with the cast Colin Firth , Ellen Burstyn and Patricia Clarkson .
