Tshälthrim Gyatsho (born March 29, 1816 ; died September 30, 1837 ) was the tenth Dalai Lama .

Life

Because of the early death of Tshälthrim Gyatsho and as a result of the conflict between Tibet and the Chinese Empire , there are few records of his life. At the age of 13 (1828) he began his monastic studies at Drepung Monastery . In 1833, at the age of 18, he took monastic vows from the 7th Penchen Lama Tenpe Nyima . In 1837 he died surprisingly at the age of only 21 in the Potala Palace . "During the period of the short-lived Dalai Lamas - from the ninth to the twelfth incarnation - the Panchen Lama was the one who filled the void left by the four Dalai Lamas who died in their youth."
