Tswelopele ( English Tswelopele Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Lejweleputswa District , Free State Province , South Africa . The administrative headquarters are in Bultfontein . Tankiso Frans Matsholo is the mayor.
The community name means "progress" in Sesotho and means the development of public services and infrastructure in this area since 1994.
The municipality is not far from Bloemhof Dam am Vaal . There are also two nature reserves: the Bloemhof Dam Nature Reserve (632 hectares ) and the Sandveld Nature Reserve (24,883.5 hectares).

In 2011 the community had 47,625 inhabitants. Of these, 91.2% were black, 6.9% white and 1.2% colored . The number of inhabitants decreased slightly to 47,373 people by 2016.
The first language was 53.4% Sesotho, 19.7% IsiXhosa , 11.9% Setswana , 8.2% Afrikaans, 1.9% English, 1% isiNdebele and 0.6% isiZulu .
