Main arm and side arms

The Turrite Cava rises in the southeast Apuan Alps in the eastern municipality of Stazzema . The southern main arm rises at Foce del Deadlines near Monte Matanna (1317 m), the northern branch at Monte Bicocca (1038 m) and the nearby Foce delle Porchette (982 m). Both unite south of Palagnana, a district of Stazzema. From here the Turrite Cava flows east, leaves Stazzema and arrives at Gragliana (district of Fabbriche di Vergemoli ). Up to this point the river is also known as Fosso Turrite di Gragliana e Palagnana . Behind Gragliana, the right tributary Rio Turrite (also called Rio di Turrite di Pascoso or Turrite di San Rocco ) joins Romiti . Up to this point, the Torrente serves the municipality of Pescaglia as the north-western municipality boundary .

After the confluence of the Torrite near Romiti, the torrent, now uniformly known as the Turrite Cava, runs eastwards and reaches the center of Fabbriche di Vallico . Here he passes the 14th century customs bridge Ponte della Dogana . After Fabbriche di Vallico, the river moves northeast and flows under the 14th century bridge Ponte ai Molini (Bridge at the Mills) at Località Molini , after which it enters the municipality of Gallicano . Here he spends a large part as the municipal boundary between Gallicano (3 km) and Borgo a Mozzano (2 km). After Pontaccio (Gallicano) and its stone arch bridge from the 14th century, the river provincial road SP 37 crosses under and reaches the built 1937-1939 and the Enel operated reservoir Lago di Turrite Cava (also Bacino di Cardora called). This extends over 1200 × 70 m, the dam wall height is 35 m. Shortly afterwards, the Turrite Cava reaches the place Turritecava, a district of Gallicano on the municipal border with Borgo a Mozzano, and flows as a right tributary into the Serchio.
