The Tuvalu A-Division or The National Provident Fund Championship League (NPF) is the top division in football in Tuvalu . It is organized by the Tuvalu National Football Association .

The championship was held for the first time in 2001. The record champions are Nauti FC with eleven titles.

mode

The championship runs from January or February to March. During this time, each of the eight teams plays against each other once. The entire competition will be held at the Tuvalu Sports Ground in Vaiaku on Fongafale in Funafuti .

There is no relegation in the league . Only B teams of the clubs play in the B division . The same applies to the C division.

Eight of Tuvalu's nine islands are currently represented by one team each. Only the Niulakita atoll, which has around 30 inhabitants , does not provide a team.

The Tuvaluan national team has also been participating in the championship since 2018 .

Taganoa Cup

The Taganoa Cup has been played within the championship since 2006. This was a gift from FC Nauti in Auckland , New Zealand . The winning team of the last game in each case receives the cup and tries to defend it in the next game. If she loses, it will be passed on to the winning team. The team that owns the trophy carries the prestigious title of Taganoa Cup winner at the end of the season and has to defend it in the next season.
