The Schlochter Bäke is an approximately 13 kilometer long lowland stream in the municipalities of Visbek , Goldenstedt and in the city of Vechta , Vechta district , Lower Saxony .

The Schlochter Bäke, in the upper course also Twillbach called rises in the corridor behind the Nordesch between the Visbeker Bauerschaften North Döllen and Wöstendöllen , and takes in the southeastern Herrenholz a second source stream on which springs Herrenholz on the northeastern edge of the forest, close to the local nature reserve. Both source locations are in close proximity to the Weser-Ems watershed .

The stream first flows through Herrenholz to the south-east, crosses under the Delmenhorst – Hesepe railway line , then turns its main course to the south, passes Lutten on the eastern edge of the village, opposite the “Arkeburg” castle wall on its left , and finally swings between the Lutter districts Osterheide and ballast to the west, to flow into the Vechtaer Moorbach, also known there as Alte Bäke, before Tellbrake .

The floodplain of the middle and lower reaches of the Schlochter Bäke has a length of 9 kilometers.

From the Herrenholz nature reserve to Osterheide, the Schlochter Bäke flows parallel to the Weser-Ems watershed to the east.

In 2017, the European Union is providing € 20,160 from the LEADER budget for the “Development plan for the lowland landscape of the Schlochter Bäke (including its tributaries)”.
