The type 4 ( Japanese 四 式 十五 糎 自 走 砲 ホ ロ , yon-shiki jūgo-senchi jisōhō ho-ro , dt. "Type 4-15 cm self-propelled gun Ho-Ro") was a self-propelled howitzer of the Japanese army . Type 4 stands for the year of planning and construction of the first prototype Kōki 26 04 (1944).

The vehicle was armed with the 150-mm Meiji 38 howitzer from 1905, which had already been retired in the early 1930s. Based on the chassis of the Type 97 Chi-Ha tank , the Type 4 had a maximum of 25 millimeters thick armor, which made the use of the self-propelled gun only useful for island defense. Another disadvantage was the locking mechanism used, which only allowed a low rate of fire. The type 4 was only produced in a small edition of 25 pieces, as the raw material situation no longer permitted higher production numbers.
