Type 95 Ha-Go

The Type 95 “Ha-Go” ( Japanese 九五 式 軽 戦 車 , kyūgo-shiki keisensha , German “Type 95 light tank”) was a Japanese light tank in World War II . Commissioned in 1935 ( Kōki 2595, hence the type designation), it was to be used as a light vehicle together with the medium tank Type 89 I-Gō (Chi-Ro) in mechanized brigades of the Imperial Japanese Army . It proved to be an excellent vehicle in the war against China and the invasion of the Malay Peninsula and was very popular with the crews.
It was produced between 1936 and 1943, a total of 1350 pieces were produced. The armor still provided adequate protection against infantry weapon fire, but not against fire from anti-tank weapons. The 37-mm cannon was intended for use against infantry targets and was therefore unsuitable for fighting enemy tanks. The "Ha-Go" was relatively slow for a light tank.
The "Ha-Go" proved to be inferior to the US models in any case. In addition, the USA was able to produce and use considerably larger quantities.
