U-20 African Cup of Nations 2011 / qualification
To qualify for the U-20 African Cup of Nations in 2011 , 24 African junior national football teams were drawn in pairings, each of which is played in a home and away leg. 15 teams received a bye for the preliminary round of qualification. Eight teams including the host took part in the final round. First of all, the final round was supposed to take place in Libya and Libya was automatically qualified as host. After unrest broke out in Libya in the spring of 2011, the tournament was moved to South Africa and the team from South Africa that had been eliminated in the qualification took part as a substitute host instead of Libya.
The qualifying games took place from April 2010.
