The Metro Station Altenessen Mitte is a tunnel station of the light rail Essen in Essen district Altenessen -South.
Location and structure
The underground station is located in the center of Altenessen. The Allee-Center shopping center is located near the underground station .
The underground station has two tracks running in north-south direction with a central platform that can be reached via stairs, escalators and barrier-free via an elevator system to the south exits. At the south entrance there are the three exits Vogelheimer Straße , Alte Badeanstalt and Altenessener Straße ; The two exits Allee-Center and Zeche Carl on the north exit level .
history
On September 30, 2001, the Altenessen Mitte tram station was opened for the two tram lines U11 and U17 as part of the commissioning of the tunnel route between the university and Karlsplatz. Before that, tram line 106 ran here on Altenessener Strasse. Line 108 has ended at Altenessen train station since the tunnel was built .
