Intendente underground station
Intendente is a metro station on the Linha Verde of the Lisbon Metro , the subway network of the Portuguese capital. The train station is located at the intersection of Avenida Almirante Reis / Rua Andrade in the municipality of Arroios . The neighboring stations of the train station are Martim Moniz and Anjos . The station went into operation on September 28, 1966.
history
As part of the planned expansion of the then Ypsilon network of the Lisbon Metro (in the north two branches to Entre Campos and Sete Rios , in the south to Restauradores ) in the direction of Alvalade , the Intendente metro station went , as did its neighboring stations, Anjos and Martim Moniz , in operation on September 28, 1966 as part of the Rossio-Anjos section. On June 18, 1972, the next section to Alvalade was opened.
The Portuguese architect Dinis Gomes was responsible for the execution of the station, as was the case with the two neighboring stations, so that the stations are relatively similar. Intentende owns a relatively flat, rounded platform hall with only one entrance from the south and two 40 meter long side platforms. The artist Maria Keil, on the other hand, was responsible for the design of the train station and designed various small tiles in the colors brown, light blue and white, which are typical of Keil's second creative phase.
In 1976/77 the station was expanded to the north, here too the Gomes / Keil duo was responsible for the execution. Architecturally, the northern part breaks completely with the southern part. This is equipped with a high platform ceiling and there is a row of columns on each side platform, behind which an escalator leads to the northern mezzanine. The extension with the extension of the platforms was completed on March 7, 1977.
To date, not much has changed at the station itself, so that it still has no elevator. After numerous other Linha Verde train stations have been refurbished in recent years, the Intendente train station is also expected to be refurbished in the medium term.
