The Mangfallplatz underground station (abbreviation of the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft : ML ) is an underground station in the Harlaching district of the Bavarian capital, Munich . It is located on the trunk line 2 of the Munich subway and is the southern terminus of the U1 line.
history
On November 9, 1997, the south branch of the U1 between the stations Columbusplatz and Mangfallplatz including the train station was opened. The U1, which previously went to Innsbrucker Ring , has since been running south of Columbusplatz on the new route.
Location and surroundings
The station is under Naupliastraße, southwest of the eponymous Mangfallplatz , in the Neuharlaching district.
The next train station into town is called St.-Quirin-Platz and is 923 meters away.
Station complex
construction
The pillarless station has a central platform. To the north of the station, a ramp leads to a mezzanine floor, from which fixed and escalators lead to both sides of Naupliastrasse. The south head is also connected to a mezzanine floor and further to the surface via stairs. There is also an elevator here that leads directly to the surface.
layout
The station walls were bevelled to reduce the amount of space used on the surface during construction. The unprocessed bored piles form the back track walls. The station lettering is in red, as are the lampshades. An aluminum construction reflects the light from the lamps and distributes it in the station. A work of art is attached to track 2, which refers to the Mangfall and its function as a drinking water supplier for Munich. The station was designed by Paolo Nestler .
