The Maillingerstraße underground station is an underground station in Munich named after the infantry general and Bavarian Minister of War Joseph Maximilian Fridolin von Maillinger . It is served by the U1 line and, since December 12, 2011, by the U7 reinforcement line, which only runs during rush hour.
The train station is near Maillingerstrasse and under Nymphenburger Strasse on the border between Maxvorstadt and Neuhausen in a north-westerly direction. It opened on May 8, 1983. Maillingerstraße was the terminus of the first line of the Munich horse-drawn tram , the forerunner of the tram , in 1876 . It ran from Promenadeplatz through Nymphenburger Strasse to the Burgfrieden-Maillingerstrasse stop.
The underground station is designed similarly to Rotkreuzplatz and Stiglmaierplatz . The back track walls consist of brown and white lamellas that are getting thicker and thinner. The floor is paved with an Isar pebble motif. The ceiling is equipped with aluminum slats and two light strips. The pillars in the middle of the platform are covered with brown tiles. In mid-2008, the cladding on the pillars in the middle of the platform was removed, as the bonding of the ceramic tiles was porous after a good 25 years and individual tiles had already fallen off. The pillars are to be clad with tiles.
