José Della Torre (born March 23, 1906 in San Isidro, Argentina , † July 31, 1979 in Lanús , Argentina) was an Argentine football player and coach .

Right-back Della Torre played after playing for San Isidro at the beginning of his career, including between 1927 and 1933 for the Argentine club Racing Club Avellaneda . During this time he formed the defender couple with Fernando Paternóster both in the club until 1932 and in the national team. In the professional time from 1931 to 1933 he played 58 times for the club. Between 1935 and 1936 he then completed 40 games for Ferro Carril Oeste . In 1937 he appeared in two official first division matches for Atlanta . These were the games against Boca Juniors (April 4, 1937) and River Plate (June 13, 1937), both of which Atlanta lost (1: 2 and 0: 4, respectively). He also played in various South American countries, for example in 1938 with América FC in Brazil. His career finally ended in Mexico.

National team

Della Torre was runner-up with Argentina at the first World Cup in Uruguay in 1930 and played all five games there. He did not come to any further appearances in the national team.

Trainer

After his career he held the position of trainer at the Racing Club several times and was able to celebrate winning the Argentine championship there in 1958. From 1942 to 1943, from 1949 to 1952 and again in 1961, he also held the coaching position at his former club Ferro Carril Oeste . He completed another coaching position in 1959 in Primera B at CA Platense . He also coached the Argentine national team and won the Campeonato Sudamericano in 1959 , supported by Victorio Spinetto and José Barreiro , who completed the coaching team .
