The underground station Stiglmaierplatz is a station of the Munich underground below the Stiglmaierplatz , which is named after the ore caster, sculptor and medalist Johann Baptist Stiglmaier .
The train station is in the Maxvorstadt under the eponymous square. The station was opened on May 8, 1983 and is served by the U1 line and, since December 12, 2011, by the U7 reinforcement line, which only runs during rush hour. The brown and white lamellas hanging on the back wall are arranged in such a way that they become wider and narrower. Like most underground stations from the 1980s, the ceiling at Stiglmaierplatz is clad with aluminum slats, the floor with Isarkiesel motif and the columns with brown tiles. The eastern locking level can be reached via a long ramp and a moving walkway. The originally existing second moving walkway was removed after about 25 years. A lift and several stairs lead directly to the surface to change to tram 20/21 . The western mezzanine floor, under the intersection of Nymphenburgerstrasse and Sandstrasse, can be reached via stairs. The columns were clad with white facings in October 2009, because the tiles were removed in 2008 because the bond was porous and individual tiles fell off.
