The USS Ford (FFG-54) is a frigate of the Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate . The ship belongs to the United States Navy . It is named after Patrick Osborne Ford , who was awarded the Navy Cross in the Vietnam War after sacrificing himself to save two of his comrades.

The keel was laid on July 11, 1983 at Todd Pacific Shipyards , the launch took place on June 23, 1984.
In 1987 the Ford drove in the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Earnest Will .
A planned visit by Ford to the Russian region of Kamchatka was canceled in August 2008 due to Russia's role in the 2008 Caucasus conflict . In 2009 the frigate maneuvered with the Peruvian Navy, and in 2010 with RIMPAC . In June 2011, the Ford took part in an exercise with the Malaysian Navy. On October 31, 2013, the Ford was decommissioned.
