Name, origin and meaning
There are various explanations for the origin and meaning of the name "Ucha" (formerly also: Ocha, Ochaha, Uochaha; dialect: Ouche).
- Once Ucha is traced back to the Germanic adjective uk- (wak-, ueg-; Greek: hygros), which means "moist", "make moist". "aha" is the old high German word for "water, river".
- Another explanation derives Ucha of Oka and of celtic and altkymrisch , meaning "quick" "auc", "oc" from. This would mean "The Fast" Ucha.
course
The Uchabach arises from several source streams on the northern slope of the Schwangbühl in the Tännesberg Forest. One of these spring brooks rises from the abundant spring "Kochlöffelbrunnen" in a small wetland.
The Uchabach initially flows north to Stockwiese. There it turns to the west, passes the Uchamühle and flows through a narrow valley between Unterucha in the south and Kranbühl in the north. At Pfarrholz the Uchabach turns north again. South of Böhmischbruck it splits into two arms, which reunite 90 m from its confluence with the Pfreimd. The Uchabach flows into the Pfreimd at the western edge of the old town of Böhmischbruck.
On its course, the Ucha takes in some unnamed streams from the right and several unnamed streams from the left, which arise on the spring-rich northern slopes of the Tännesberg Forest.
