The Uchta ( Russian Ухта́ ) is a left tributary of the Ischma in the Pechora river system in the Komi Republic in northwestern Russia .

The Ukhta rises on the Timan Ridge . It flows mainly in the east-south-east direction through the mountains. On the lower reaches of the Uchta are the settlement of Shudayag , the city of Uchta , and the city of Sosnogorsk at the confluence with the Ischma . The Ukhta has a length of 199 km. It drains an area of ​​4510 km². Uchta is ice-free between the end of April and the end of October. The mean discharge (MQ) of the Ukhta 13 km above the mouth is 46 m³ / s. During the snowmelt in May, the river reaches a monthly mean of 175 m³ / s. Important tributaries of the Ukhta from left Tschut and right Tobys .
