In 1919 he was involved in the suppression of the Spartacus uprising , the general strike and the armed fighting in Berlin in January 1919 in connection with the November Revolution. As a member of a volunteer corps, he fought together with the Self-Protection Oberschlesien (SSOS) in the storming of St. Annaberg in the uprisings in Upper Silesia . In 1934 Ulf Weiß-Vogtmann invented a catapult ejector seat from which today's pilots' ejector seats developed. In 1940 the night fighter Heinkel He 219 of the German Air Force was equipped with it as standard, as was the Russian helicopter Kamow Ka-50 in the 1980s .

Julius Mader , journalist and officer at the Ministry for State Security , published an article in 1964 about the (alleged) involvement of Ulf Weiß-Vogtmann in the murder of Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg .
