Ulrich Hegner
Ulrich Hegner (born February 7, 1759 in Winterthur ; † January 3, 1840 there ) was a Swiss writer .
Life
His parents were the city doctor of Winterthur Johann Heinrich Hegner (1715–1782) and his wife Elisabeth Hegner (1719–1810), a daughter of the judge Hans Ulrich Hegner (1685–1773) and Anna Katrina Künzli. Hegner studied medicine in Strasbourg from 1776 to 1781 and also did his doctorate there, but then privatized in Winterthur, occupied himself with literature and art and was active as a writer. In 1786 he took over the hereditary position of land clerk of the County of Kyburg , which he held until 1798.
After the proclamation of the Helvetic Republic in April 1798, he took over the office of canton judge in Zurich out of a sense of republican duty, he lived here in Johann Caspar Lavater's house. He then lived in Paris for some time, which he also wrote about. From 1805 to 1814 he was a city councilor in Winterthur, from 1814 to 1829 a cantonal councilor in Zurich and from 1814/1815 a member of the cantonal government.

He married Elisabetha Sulzer (1759–1830) in Winterthur in 1785, a daughter of the city judge Jakob Sulzer (1728–1785) and Elisabeth Sulzer. The marriage remained childless, but he had adopted children.
