Ulrich Walwei

Ulrich Walwei (born 1958 in Versmold ) is a German economist .

Life

Walwei studied economics at the University of Paderborn . He then worked as a research assistant at Friedrich Buttler's chair in finance . In 1990 he was in Paderborn with the study "Economic and legal analysis of temporary contracts" for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. From 1988 to 1996 Walwei worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), where from 1997 to 2007 he headed the research area “Growth, Demography and Labor Market”. Since 2002 he has been Vice Director of the institute.

His main research interests are labor market institutions, labor market trends, flexibilization of the labor market, forms of employment and labor market policy. Since 2014 he has also been teaching at the University of Regensburg .

Walwei is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health , the Advisory Board of the University of the Federal Employment Agency and the Regulatory Advisory Board of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . He is a speaker at events of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group , is in demand as a labor market expert in the press and writes articles for Die Zeit and the Wirtschaftsdienst .
