Ulrich Reinhold Etzdorf , from 1910 from Etzdorf , (also: Etzdorff) (born November 21, 1847 in Neumark , Querfurt district ; † May 24, 1931 in Berlin-Halensee ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Career

Ulrich von Etzdorf served in the Guard Pioneer Battalion of the Prussian Army and was a member of the technical force for almost his entire period of service. In 1910 he was raised to the hereditary Prussian nobility. During the First World War he was governor of Warsaw from August 1915 .

Etzdorf as the client

Etzdorf lived in Berlin-Wilmersdorf at Nestorstrasse 16. He had owned an estate in Gehren in the Luckau district since 1898 , which was rebuilt in the castle style in 1902 . This building, the Jakobsmühle, had already existed in the 15th century. The mill wheel was also preserved during the renovation and was used to generate electricity for the property before it was connected to the public power supply. After Etzdorf's death, the mill initially remained in the possession of his widow. In 1933 it was leased to the Gau Kurmark of the NSDAP and converted into the Dietrich Eckhart School for Office Administrators. During the GDR era, Etzdorf's former castle was used as a training and recreation center for the Chamber of Crafts; after the fall of the Wall, the building fell into disrepair until it was redesigned by an artist. The property, which was once designed by Etzdorf, is a listed building.

Family and death

Ulrich von Etzdorf was the brother of Rüdiger von Etzdorf and the uncle of Hasso von Etzdorf . He was married to Margarethe, nee Cornelius. The couple adopted their two granddaughters Marga and Ursula in 1911 after their daughter Margarethe and her husband Fritz Wolff had died in a swimming accident in Ragusa . In 1930 her grandparents made it possible for Marga to buy her plane.

Ulrich von Etzdorf died on May 24, 1931 at the age of 83. He was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof in Berlin. The grave, which was devastated during the Walling era, was restituted in 2015.
