Ulrike Renate Martina Bahr (born April 25, 1964 in Nördlingen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013 . There she belongs to the left wing of the SPD, the parliamentary left .

Life

Bahr grew up in Wemding and attended the primary school there from 1970 to 1974, where her father worked as a teacher. In 1974 she moved to the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Nördlingen, where she graduated from high school in 1983 . She then studied at the University of Augsburg teachers for secondary schools with the subjects English , history , German and music . In 1989 she passed the first state examination and became a trainee teacher in Wemding. She completed her studies in 1991 with the second state examination. She then worked from 1991 to 1993 as a secondary school teacher in Monheim and Wemding. Since 1993 she has been employed as a teacher at various schools in Augsburg . Most recently, Bahr taught at the Goethe Middle School in Augsburg.

Ulrike Bahr is married and belongs to the Roman Catholic denomination.

Political career

In 1986 Bahr became a member of the SPD. From 2002 to 2012 she was a member of the Augsburg City Council. From 2009 to 2012 she was chairwoman of the SPD local association Jakobervorstadt / Bleich . She is chairwoman of the SPD Augsburg. As early as 2012 it became known that she would stand as a candidate for the Bundestag. When she was nominated as SPD candidate for the Bundestag, she announced that she would give up her seat on the city council after a successful election, as she was not looking for a double seat . From 2013 to 2017 she was deputy chairwoman and since then she has been chairwoman of the SPD Swabia. They ran in the federal election in 2013 in Augsburg-Stadt and pulled over the national list of their party into the Bundestag. In the 2017 federal election , she moved back into the Bundestag at number 4 on the list.

She has been a full member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth since 2013 . There she is the rapporteur of her parliamentary group for child and youth welfare , especially for the reform of SGB ​​8 , as well as for multi-generation houses . In the subcommittee on civic engagement she deals with the support of voluntary engagement. Since February 2019, she has also been a full member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment . She is the reporter for further education and training (including “Aufstiegs-BAFöG”). In addition, Bahr is a full member of the Committee for Civic Commitment and a deputy member of the Children's Commission (Commission for the Perception of Children's Issues) and the Committee on Health .

She is also a member of the US parliamentary group.

Further offices and memberships

From 1995 to 2013 Ulrike Bahr was honorary chairwoman of the GEW district association Augsburg and member of the board of the DGB, Augsburg region. From 1998 to 2013 she was a staff councilor at the state education authority in the city of Augsburg. From 2000 to 2004 Bahr was as Jugendschöffin at Augsburg District Court operates, 2005-2013 member of the steering group in the Alliance for Augsburg, the board is part of the bipartisan Alliance for human dignity, the Association of Victims of the Nazi regime and the German anti-fascists (VVN / BdA ) as well as the workers' welfare in the local association Hochfeld.
