Undine von Medvey (born February 6, 1926 in Hamburg , † January 4, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German singer and actress .

youth

Undine von Medvey was the daughter of a doctor from Berlin and was born in Hamburg. When she was three and a half years old she went to a ballet school and had her first appearances there. At the age of eight she entered the conservatory . From the age of twelve she gave concerts on the accordion. From 1938 onwards, her family was mainly based abroad. For example, she lived in Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, Undine was discovered by Medvey for the Berlin Metropoltheater.

Career

She began her career in the Berlin Metropol Theater with special arrangements for piano in mask in blue and a solo appearance in The Count of Luxembourg alongside Johannes Heesters . The hour of birth of the singer Undine von Medvey was when artists like Evelyn Künneke , Georg Thomalla or Fritz Schulz-Reichel put on a show with her in the bombed-out cabaret in Berlin . Here it was the director, Willi Schaeffers , who discovered her voice because she kept trilling backstage. He commissioned Heino Gaze to write a song for her. This is how On my concertina, concertina, accordion was created . Since then she has also sung songs and accompanied herself on the accordion. But the excited Udine von Medvey was so afraid that she played her accordion so loud that the lyrics could hardly be understood. So Schaeffers took the instrument from her. From then on she went on the path of a solo singer ( you, you, you, leave my little heart alone, dreams cannot be forbidden, etc.).

She experienced her greatest successes on tours with Vico Torriani , Bully Buhlan , Lale Andersen and, above all, as a long-term partner at Heinz Erhardt's side in sketches, plays and films. Heavily pregnant she played at his side in Hamburg in the comedy Lieber rich, but happy .

In 1959, engaged in the Viennese variety " Ronacher " for two shows in the evening, she also took on the role of Mickey Lane (Bianca) in Kiss Me Kate at the Vienna Volksoper for the sick Olive Moorefield . That meant: first show at the Ronacher, into the taxi, including a costume change, Kiss Me Kate, into the taxi, costume change again, second show. So that she got through all of this, she was looked after by Marcel Prawy . In addition, she was a member of the International Artist Lodge from 1960 .

In 1980 she played at the Contra-Kreis-Theater in Bonn at the side of Karin Buchali and Peter René Körner in Klaus Wirbitzky's play Café an der Oper . In 1981 she appeared again with her accordion at the Cologne Opera , in the Jacques Offenbach homage "à la Jacques" by the Tanz-Forum.

In the early 1980s she moved from Cologne back to Berlin, where she repeatedly appeared on stage in smaller and larger revues as a singer, actress and accordionist. Here she lived until her death.
