Eubigheim (also Untereubigheim ) is a district of the municipality of Ahorn in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .

Eubigheim is located in building land , a hilly arable landscape with forest islands on the steeper slopes of the valleys, which is determined by the shell limestone in the subsoil. In the district of Eubigheim lying next to the village (sub) Eubigheim ( ) nor the hamlet Obereubigheim ( ), the living space Old Bahnwärterhaus ( ) and in a side valley of the hamlet Neidelsbach ( ). The hamlet Obereubigheim over and then through the larger village (sub) Eubigheim the district flows therethrough about the southwest here yet Eubigheimer Bach called Rinna , the big left headwaters tributary of the Kirnau .

history

Eubigheim was first mentioned in a document in 856. On December 1, 1971, the place was incorporated into the new municipality of Ahorn.

Christianity

The Lutheran creed was once introduced by the local rulers. The Walderdorff family and the barons von Bettendorff , as patron saints, carried out the Counter-Reformation with the result that their subjects became Catholic. In 1651 the Simultaneum took place , so that the Protestant and Catholic faith was granted free exercise. A Catholic parish was founded between 1764 and 1770. A controversial old church was subsequently demolished and a separate small church was built for each denomination - an Evangelical church in 1780 and the Catholic Church of St. Mary in 1981 .

The Jewish community of Eubigheim existed from the 17th century until 1938.

Eubigheim synagogue

The synagogue was established in 1850 and has been preserved as a residential building to this day.
