history

Eubigheim station

The railway first reached Eubigheim on November 1, 1866, when a section of the Odenwald Railway from Osterburken via Eubigheim to Lauda was put into operation. The station's reception building was completed in time for the opening of the route. Opposite the station building is a Raiffeisen building with a grain silo. On the left side of the reception building there is a toilet facility followed by an open loading siding and a free-standing goods shed. In the reception building there is an interlocking room with a track plan push button interlocking. In 2014 the track systems were renewed.

Since the 2010s there have been several actions by the local population, which in addition to the stop of regional express trains, also demand more regular service times in Eubigheim. Since December 15, 2019, there has been a three-year trial operation with hourly stops Monday to Friday between Osterburken and Lauda.

Seewiese sweeping station

The Seewiese Kehrbahnhof , also Lokkehrbahnhof or Lokomotiv-Kehrbahnhof Seewiese was just two kilometers after the Eubigheim train station in the direction of the Eubigheimer Tunnel at the Seewiese Gewann . It was created so that at the end of a regularly used push-up section, the line passability was not additionally restricted by a returning push-pull locomotive. The central element was an extended track connection as a turning and waiting track between the main tracks. The pushing locomotive came to a stop in the area of the sweeping station and drove back to the turning and waiting track. This left the uphill track free for the next trip. A suitable gap in the timetable for the return journey could be awaited on the waiting track without obstructing the rest of the traffic.

Investments

The station has two platforms: the main platform on platform 1 and a central platform between platform 2 and platform 3, which can only be used from platform 2. Access is via an entrance at the same height.

Monument protection

The reception building is located at Bahnhofstrasse 14 in Eubigheim and is a listed building .
