Railway stations in Baden-Württemberg |
The Weikersheim station is an operating agency of the railway line Crailsheim-Königshofen . It is located in Weikersheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . From 1909 to 1990 a line branched off to Ochsenfurt in Weikersheim , giving the station the shape of a wedge station .
location
The former reception building is located on Am Bahnhof 1 in Weikersheim. From Weikersheim the railway line runs downstream in the Taubertal to Königshofen. In the opposite direction, the railway line turns to Weikersheim in the direction of the Laudenbach district in Vorbachtal , a left side valley of the Taubertal.
history
The station building was built from 1867 to 1870. As early as 1869, a special train drove to inaugurate the line. The Weikersheim station, which was still provisional at the time, was festively decorated like all other stations. A restaurant and the post office were housed in the two annexes on the left and right of the Weikersheim reception building. In the station operated together with the Royal Bavarian State Railways , the Gaubahn branched off from November 17, 1909 to September 29, 1990 as a branch line to Ochsenfurt. The jointly operated locomotive shed was in the Württemberg part of the station. The station had an electrical relay interlocking and light signals very early on (around 1965) . Most of the points were also equipped with an electric servomotor. In three signal boxes, one at the head ends and one on the branch line, the marshalling manager was able to independently change the switches for his shunting operation at the push of a button.
In 2011 the building was sold to a private person and renovated on a large scale in compliance with the preservation of historical monuments. Old drawings and plans were used to help reconstruct two dormer windows and the windows on the ground floor based on the old model. Railway operations are still active.
Monument protection
The station building is a listed building. It is a solid building in the pavilion type with hipped roofs and arched windows. The station is part of the totality of the railway line Bad Mergentheim – Crailsheim: Württemberg Taubertal Railway with stations, auxiliary buildings, bridges, track systems and all stationary and movable accessories.
