history

Distelhausen station

The Distelhausen stop was initially built as a passenger station by the Grand Ducal Baden State Railroad in 1866. At the end of September 1867, the Distelhausen railway station began its service with a large two-room service building with a ticket office and waiting room.

At the end of the Second World War, the US Army set up a depot for supplies, ammunition and vehicles between the village and the train station.

Earlier track systems were dismantled. At the end of the 1970s, the two level crossings were closed and dismantled. Then the gatekeepers were withdrawn. A level crossing was replaced by an overpass at the level of the cemetery. In 1981 the station building was sold and went into private ownership. A ticket machine went into operation in 2004, 33 years after the ticket office closed. In March 2018, Distelhausen received a new handicapped access, a new staircase and a new platform with a guidance system and new lighting.

Distelhausen ceiling construction station

In the 1970s, during the construction of the federal highway 81 with the nearby junction Tauberbischofsheim and the nearby Taubertal bridge north of the Distelhausen train station, an additional ceiling construction station was built. From September 1971, over 1.7 million tons of building material rolled into block trains for the A 81 motorway in so-called fad wagons, which were tipped into an underground bunker on a 500-meter-long siding. The plant existed for about two years, its exact dismantling date is not known.
