The Bad Mergentheim railway station , to 1926 Station Mergentheim , is an operating agency of the railway line Crailsheim-Königshofen . It is located in Bad Mergentheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . The reception building is located at Poststrasse 1 .
history
On October 23, 1869, the Crailsheim – Mergentheim line was opened. The opening was celebrated five days earlier, on October 18, 1869, in Mergentheim. Mergentheim station was originally a border station between Württemberg and Baden . The clock tower - which no longer exists - in the central wing of the reception building indicated the Baden and the Württemberg " railway time ". In addition to the station building, the station consisted of a Württemberg locomotive depot, a Baden locomotive depot and a carriage depot. The goods shed was shared. Renovation work changed the central part of the reception building, so that the characteristics of the building suffered greatly.
In general cargo Bad Mergentheim was for the area to Tauberbischofsheim , until Blaufelden and Osterburken operates. For these tasks, the station had a local shunting service with small locomotives and staff until 1993 . Since 2006 the station with the two signal boxes and the travel center belong to the Westfrankenbahn . In 2007 the freight yard with the tracks and ramp was demolished for a new building. After demolition in 2014, a residential complex was built in the former locomotive shed in Baden and on the Baden railway site. The station building was extensively modernized in 2019/2020.

Today there is a house platform and a central platform. All tracks for freight traffic and sidings have now been removed.
