Unterwestern is a district of the municipality Westerngrund in the Bavarian district of Aschaffenburg . The place has 368 inhabitants.

Unterwestern is 240  m above sea level. NN in the Westerngrund through which the Westerbach flows, a side valley of the Kahlgrund on the road between Schneppenbach and Oberwestern . To the west of Unterwestern is the village of Hofstädten . To the east lie Großkahl and Großlaudenbach . The topographically highest point of the village marking is to the east of the village, on Habersberg at 323  m above sea level. history

The municipality of Unterwestern belonged to the Alzenau district office , which was formed on July 1, 1862. On January 1, 1939, this became part of the Alzenau district in Lower Franconia .

On January 1, 1972, Unterwestern was incorporated into the municipality of Westerngrund.
