Upeshka De Silva (* 1987 or 1988 in Colombo , Sri Lanka ) is a professional American poker player of Ceylonese origin. He is three-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Personal

De Silva was born in Sri Lanka and came to the United States with his parents when he was two years old. He graduated from the University of Houston with degrees in political science and history . De Silva lives in Katy , Texas, USA .

Poker career

Career

De Silva has been participating in prestigious live tournaments since 2011 .

In June 2013 , De Silva was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in two tournaments of the No Limit Hold'em variant . He reached the final table at Millionaire Maker and took seventh place, which was paid for around 175,000 US dollars . At the 2015 WSOP , De Silva won the 45th event on the tournament schedule and secured a bracelet and a prize of just under 425,000 US dollars. About three weeks later he reached the sixth day of the tournament in the main event of the series and was eliminated there in 36th place, endowed with over 210,000 US dollars. At the beginning of September 2016, De Silva sat at the final table of the main event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Los Angeles and finished third for just under 200,000 US dollars. At the end of November 2016, he also finished third at the Rock N Roll Poker Open Championship in Hollywood , Florida , and received over $ 200,000 in prize money.
