The mountain Daniel is with a height of 2340  m above sea level. A. the highest peak in the Ammergau Alps , a group of the Northern Limestone Alps . It is located in the Ausserfern district of the Austrian state of Tyrol , north of the villages of Ehrwald and Lermoos . Its north wall is around 200 m high. The south wall has a rather rugged character. With the almost equally high Upsspitze ( 2332  m ) it forms a double peak. A neighboring peak in the northwest is the Hochschrutte with 2247  m height.

Ascent

The summit can be reached with an easy mountain tour from the south, whereby only the summit ridge from the Upsspitze to the Daniel requires increased surefootedness . The ascent from Lermoos via the Tuftlalm and Upsspitze to Daniel takes about 4 hours, according to literature. The descent over the Upsspitze, the Green Ups (a lookout point) and the Tuftlalm to Lermoos can be done in around 2.5 hours.
