Urs Peter Halter (* 1974 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss actor .

Life

Urs Peter Halter completed an acting training at the University of Music and Performing Arts “Mozarteum” in Salzburg from 1995 to 1999 .

Since then, Halter has mainly worked as a theater actor . He had permanent engagements at the Theater Dortmund (1999–2002) and at the Theater Freiburg (2002–2006). In 2007 he played Rudolph, one of the cripples from the night asylum, at the Salzburg Festival in the play Ein Fest für Boris by Thomas Bernhard . From 2006 to 2015, Halter was a member of the ensemble at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus .

As an actor, Halter interpreted a broad repertoire , which included plays by William Shakespeare , the German authors of the Classical and Romantic periods , the theater of the turn of the century , but also plays from modern times and contemporary theater. His main stage roles included: Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream , Orlando in As You Like It , Ferdinand in Cabal and Love , the title role in Amphitryon , the doctor Dorn in Die Möwe , the landowner Telégin in Uncle Vanya , Prince and Ivan in The Dirty Hands of Jean-Paul Sartre and Dieter in Familiar Faces, Mixed Feelings by Botho Strauss .

In 2011 he also worked as a director. Halter staged the play Should I cry now , together with Julie Bräuning at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus . In 2013 he directed the production 27 / twenty-seven at the Junge Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf .

In 2013 he played the role of Karl Boetzke in the world premiere of the stage version of the television series Rote Erde at the Essen Theater, directed by Volker Lösch . With The Dirty Hands he also performed with the Düsseldorf Ensemble at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin . In the 2014/15 season he played the slip in A Midsummer Night's Dream in Düsseldorf, directed by Alex Rigola, Herr Spitta in Die Ratten , directed by Volker Lösch and Ariel in Der Sturm , directed by Volker Hesse .

Halter has been a member of the Theater Basel ensemble since 2015 under the direction of Andreas Beck . He played u. a. Boris Nikolajewitschtschepurnoj in Children of the Sun directed by Nora Schlocker and as Cordenbois in The Piggy Bank by Eugène Labiche directed by Martin Laberenz. Further works were created with the directors Julia Hölscher, Miloš Lolić and Tilmann Köhler .

Halter also took on various film roles. In 1998 he played the role of Töbe , the best friend of rock singer Fögi, in the gay love drama F. est un salaud, directed by Marcel Gisler . The film was awarded the Swiss Film Prize and was shown in the competition at the Locarno International Film Festival . In 2008 he starred as Tomas in the British drama The Other Possibility . In 2009 he had an episode role in the ZDF crime series SOKO Cologne . In 2010 he played the role of the arrogant and scheming junior boss of a fashion house alongside Rita Russek in the ZDF television film Your Me too . In 2014 he played one of the leading roles in the Konstanzer Tatort episode Winternebel .

Halter has lived in Basel since 2016 .
