Urs Walter Schnyder

Urs Walter Schnyder (born February 7, 1923 in Basel ; † October 21, 2012 ; resident in Solothurn and Lohn ) was a Swiss dermatologist .

Life

Urs Walter Schnyder came from a family of doctors in Solothurn. He studied medicine at the Universities of Bern , Geneva and Zurich and graduated in Zurich in 1948 with the state examination. He received his doctorate in 1951 in Zurich, and in 1961 he received his habilitation there . From 1965 to 1978 he was Professor of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases and Director of the University Dermatology Clinic in Heidelberg , from 1978 until his retirement in 1991 Professor of Dermatology and Venereology and Director of the Dermatological University Clinic in Zurich .

In 1982 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . From 1966 to 1991 he was co-editor of the scientific journal Der Hautarzt .
