Ute Bergner (born October 15, 1957 in Jena ) is a German politician (non-party, formerly FDP). She has been a member of the Thuringian state parliament since 2019 .

Career

Ute Bergner graduated from high school in Jena in 1976 and obtained her diploma as a physicist at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena in 1981 , where she earned her Dr. rer. nat. received his doctorate . In her dissertation , she investigated "cross-correlation effects between interfaces in sputtered titanium oxide layers".

Until 1991 Bergner as a research assistant in teaching and research at the University of Jena and as an employee in the 1991/1992 field work at Balzers. In 1992 she founded the company VACOM Vacuum Components & Messtechnik GmbH, which employed around 300 people in 2019.

Bergner is involved in various social and scientific committees , such as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), the Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering e. V. (VDMA) and the Jena Economic Development Agency. She has been an elected member of the board of directors of the German Vacuum Society (DVG) for many years. She has been its President since 2017.

In 1976 Bergner became a member of the LDPD , which in August 1990 - shortly before German unification - merged with the FDP . In the state elections in Thuringia 2019 , she ran in the constituency of Jena II and moved into the Thuringian state parliament via third place on the FDP state list . Bergner lives in Jena. She is married and has 4 children. On March 19, 2020 she resigned from the FDP, but wants to continue to exercise her mandate in the state parliament for the association “Citizens for Thuringia” and to continue to belong to the parliamentary group.

  • since 2017: Member of the scientific advisory board of the Physics and Astronomy Faculty of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena
  • since 2019: Member of the Board of Trustees of the Thuringia Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research
