Uwe Dombrowski

Uwe Dombrowski (born May 22, 1950 in Hamburg ) is a German engineer. Since 2000 he has been a professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig and executive director of the Institute for Factory Management and Business Research (IFU).

Life

After an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman at Rheinstahl Hanomag AG in Hanover , Dombrowski studied mechanical engineering with a focus on production technology at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and then mechanical engineering with a focus on production technology at the University of Hanover . From 1981 he worked as a research assistant with Hans-Peter Wiendahl at the Institute for Factory Systems (IFA) at the University of Hanover. In 1987 he received his doctorate in engineering.

After obtaining his doctorate , Dombrowski switched to industry at Philips Medizin Systeme GmbH in Hamburg in 1988 . There he was division manager and authorized signatory for internal supply and engineering services. In 1994 he was appointed overall project manager for the renewal of the entire information landscape at Philips Medical Systems International in the Pilot Development and Manufacturing Center Hamburg. From 1997 he worked at Dr.-Ing. hc F. Porsche AG in Stuttgart as head of department (director) with worldwide responsibility for the central parts service including tequipment (accessories) and selection (accessories) and as managing director of Porsche Classic GmbH.

In 2000, Uwe Dombrowski followed his appointment as university professor at the Technical University Carolo Wilhelmina in Braunschweig and became the managing director of the Institute for Factory Management and Business Research (IFU). The focus of his teaching and research activities is factory planning and ergonomics , holistic production systems and after sales service .

Offices and memberships

From 2001 to 2009 Dombrowski was the deputy chairman of the board of trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (IFF) in Magdeburg . From 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the "Production Technology" expert committee of the German Research Foundation (DFG) , where he represented the subject "Production Automation, Factory Management, Business Administration". He has been a member of the European Academy for Industrial Management (AIM) since 2005. In September 2011 he was elected Vice President here. Since 2007 he has been chairman of the VDI technical committee for holistic production systems, in which the VDI guideline 2870 "Holistic Production Systems" and VDI guideline 2871 "Lean Leadership - Management in Holistic Production Systems" were developed. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Society for Organization (gfo) . In 2012 he joined the Scientific Society for Work and Business Organization - University Group Work and Business Organization (WGAB). Since March 2017 Dombrowski has been a board member of the Society for Transport Management and Logistics eV (GVB). Uwe Dombrowski is scientific director and member of the advisory board of the annual German specialist conference After Sales Service. He is also co-organizer of the annual Braunschweig GPS Symposium and is on the advisory board of the German Factory Planning Congress.
