Uwe Franke (producer)

Uwe Franke (born October 6, 1950 in Bochum ) is a German producer primarily of television films. He produced a. a. Films from the Tatort television series and the Bloch television series .

Life

Franke studied in Bochum and Nijmegen . Between 1979 and 1989 Franke was seen in three roles as an actor. Since then he has been working as a film producer. After completing his studies, he initially became a partner in Dr. Muschnik film productions in Essen , which were founded in the late 1970s by Werner Possardt and Frank Döhmann . From 1983 to 1996 Franke was co-owner and managing director of Calypso-Filmproduktion GmbH in Cologne , which was also founded by Werner Possardt. In 1996 Franke took over the overall management of Grundy Ufa TV-Production as creative producer for more than 700 episodes of the daily soap Unter Uns. In 2000 he was responsible for the weekly series Big City Dreams as an offshoot of the series, but could not prevent its cancellation after only seven broadcast episodes. From October 2000 he worked as a senior producer for Westdeutsche Universum Film & TV Produktion of the RTL series Balko . In addition, the development of new series formats, television series and television films were among his areas of responsibility. He has worked with Sabine Tettenborn in various productions since the beginning of 2006, like Tettenborn, for Maran Film . After the dissolution of Maran Film GmbH, Franke switched to Südwestrundfunk as managing producer in July 2015 .
