Václav Treitz
Václav Treitz , also Wenzel Treitz or Treic , (born April 9, 1819 in Hostomice pod Brdy , Bohemia , † August 27, 1872 in Prague ) was a Czech pathologist .
Live and act
Treitz was born the son of a lawyer . After graduating from high school in Benešov , he studied medicine at the Charles University in Prague. He completed his further training in Vienna with Josef Hyrtl (1810–1894), an Austrian anatomist . He then worked as a doctor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow . In 1855 Treitz returned to Prague, where he was appointed professor and director of the Institute for Pathological Anatomy .
In addition to his medical work, Václav Treitz was a symbolic figure in the struggle of the Czech national movement .
On August 27, 1872 Treitz committed at the age of 52 years with cyanide suicide .

- Treitz discovered in 1853 the musculus suspensorius ulcer , which later Treitzsches ligament or Treitzsches band ( ligament suspensory duodenal ) was called. The structure fixes the transition between the duodenum and jejunum on the back wall of the abdominal cavity.
- Treitz's angle : a sharp kink of the duodenojejunal transition
- Treitz's arch ( Plica paraduodenalis ): a peritoneal fold between the left side of the flexura duodenojejunalis and the medial border of the left kidney
