Vadim Vasjonkin (born September 30, 1996 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian ice hockey player who has played for the Buffalo State College team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association since 2016 .

Career

Vadim Vasjonkin began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HC Unistars Tallinn from his hometown. There he played, as well as later in the junior team of HK Liepājas Metalurgs in the Latvian U18 league. After playing two games for Kohtla-Järve Viru Sputnik in the Estonian U18 league in 2012 , he moved to the United States, where he initially played for the Lake Forest Academy for two years and was the best assist provider in the MPHL junior league in 2014. After a year at Detroit Honeybaked, he played for Boston Jr. in 2015/16. Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers Elite in the USPHL Junior League. Since 2016 he has played for the Buffalo State College team in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 2020 he was elected to the NCAA Division III cross-conference Second All-Star Team.

International

For Estonia, Vasjonkin took part in the junior division in Division II at the U18 World Championships in 2013 and 2014 , when he was voted the best player of his team, and the U20 World Championships in 2014 , 2015 and 2016 , when he was the top scorer (together with the Hungarian Vilmos Galló ) and second best goalscorer (together with Galló behind his compatriot Csanád Erdély ) was again awarded as the best Estonian player of the tournament.

Vasjonkin played for the men's national team for the first time in February 2016 in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang . In the same year he was also used at the World Cup 2016 in Division I, in which he also played in 2017 , 2018 and 2019 .
