Csanád Erdély ( Hungarian Erdély Csanád ; born April 5, 1996 in Dunaújváros ) is a Hungarian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Alba Volán Székesfehérvar in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2016 .
Career
Csanád Erdély began his career in the youth division of Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in his native city. In the 2010/11 season, when he was only 14, he was used twice in the joint team of his home club and the Ferencvárosi TC in the Hungarian U18 league. He then moved to Alba Volán Székesfehérvár . For the club, which is also based in Central Transdanubia , he first played in Hungarian and Austrian youth leagues before he was also used in the Austrian ice hockey league for the first time in the 2013/14 season . In the following year he was able to assert himself there as a regular player and completed a total of 53 games for the ÖEHL team of Alba Volán (47 × main round, 6 × playoffs). In 2015 he dared to leap across the pond and joined Sioux Falls Stampede from the United States Hockey League , which had selected him in the 14th round of the USHL Entry Draft as a total of 220th player, but returned to Székesfehérvar after just one year back.
International
For Hungary Erdély took part in the tournaments of the U18 World Championships in 2013 in Division II and 2014 in Division I in the junior division. He acted as the team captain of the Hungarians at both tournaments. While he was named the best player of his team in 2013 with the best plus / minus balance of the tournament, a year later he was also named the best striker of the tournament as the top scorer. With his achievements he made a decisive contribution to the fact that the Magyars rose twice in a row. With the U20 selection , he took part in the 2013 , 2014 and 2016 World Championships , when he made a significant contribution to the direct resurgence as the top scorer and third-best scorer (after his compatriot Vilmos Galló and the Estonian Vadim Vasjonkin ) and was also named the best player on his team, in Division II and in 2015 in Division I.
In the senior division, he made his debut at the 2015 World Cup when the Magyars returned to the top division six years after relegation. At the 2016 World Cup , he then played in the top division, from which the Magyars immediately relegated despite a 5-2 win against Belarus , so that he returned to Division I in 2017 and 2018 .
