Valentin Gaa

Valentin Gaa (born August 15, 1905 in Plankstadt ; † February 19, 1985 in Schwetzingen ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

After graduating from high school, Gaa studied law and political science at the universities of Freiburg and Heidelberg . In 1932 he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD (dissertation: The legal regulation of weekly market traffic in Baden cities ). He then worked as an independent lawyer in Plankstadt , interrupted from 1940 to 1945 by participating in the Second World War .

Gaa was chairman of the CDU in Plankstadt from 1945 and chairman of the CDU district association Mannheim-Land-Süd from 1947 to 1966. In 1946 he belonged to the provisional parliament of Württemberg-Baden and was from October 20, 1948, when he replaced the deceased Josef Harter , a member of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden until 1952 . From 1952 to 1960 and from 1964 to 1968 he was a member of the state constituent assembly and the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Gaa served as mayor of Schwetzingen from 1945 to 1948 . In 1946, he was only provisionally, from 1948 to 1970 then district administrator of the district of Mannheim .

From 1949 to 1969 he was chairman of the Broadcasting Council of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR).
