Valeriu Bularca (born February 14, 1931 in Întorsura Buzăului ; † February 7, 2017 ) was a Romanian wrestler.

Career

Valeriu Bularca grew up in Măieruș near Brașov . As a teenager he began an apprenticeship as a locksmith in a steelworks and also began wrestling in the factory's sports club. He later moved to Steagul Roşu Braşov and developed under coach Horvath to a Romanian and European top wrestler in the Greco-Roman style. In the further course of his career he worked for the sports organizations "Energia" and "Progresul". In 1958, he replaced Marin Belușica, who had been leading in his weight class, at the Romanian championships . From this point on he was also released from his employer for the purpose of training, as was customary in the Eastern Bloc at that time. Before he was allowed to start at the World Championships for the first time in 1958, he had competed in international comparative matches in 1956 and 1957 with against Sekal, Czechoslovakia , Immanen, Finland , Stevan Horvat , Yugoslavia , Kamel Hussein, Egypt , Heribert Hofmann , FRG , Roland Carlsson and Bertil Nyström, Sweden , proven. His greatest successes were the 1961 world championship and the silver medal at the 1964 Olympic Games . He was also a multiple Balkan champion. After finishing his career as an active wrestler, he became a coach.
