Vasily Vladimirovich Beresuzki ( Russian Василий Владимирович Березуцкий ; English Vasili Berezutski ; born June 20, 1982 in Moscow , USSR ) is a Russian football player on the position of defender .
Life
Vasily Berezuzki was born on June 20, 1982 as the twin brother of Alexei Berezuzki in Moscow. He lives in Moscow and is single. In 2007 he was awarded the Order of Peace .
Career
society
Like his twin brother Alexei, Vasily Beresuzki attended the special children's and youth sports school of the Olympic Reserve No. 63 "Smena" in Moscow and began his career at the lower-class Moscow club Serwis-Cholod-Smena . In 1999, at the age of 17, he moved to the Torpedo-SIL football club in the 1st division . After two years he went to CSKA Moscow in the Premjer League . He celebrated his first title in 2002 when he won the Russian Cup . A year later he became Russian champion for the first time and won his first Russian Super Cup .
His most successful year so far was 2005 when he won the Russian champions , Russian cup winners and the UEFA Cup 3-1 against Sporting Lisbon . 2006 was no less successful when he won the Russian championship for the third time and the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup for the second time. In 2007 he became the Russian Super Cup winner for the third time and won the commercial Perwy kanal Cup , which was launched in 2006 .
National team
Vasily Beresuzki made his first game for the Russian national soccer team on June 7, 2003 in the away game against Switzerland (2-2). He also played a game for a Russian Olympic team.
At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Russian squad as team captain . In the opening game against England he scored the 1-1 equalizer in stoppage time. He was also in the starting line-up in the other two group matches, but in the last game against Wales he was substituted at half-time when the score was 2-0. With just one point from the first game, Russia was eliminated from the bottom of the group.
