Vegard Bjørn Gjermundshaug (born January 10, 1992 in Tynset ) is a Norwegian biathlete .

Vegard Gjermundshaug starts for Alvdal Il . He contested his first international races at the start of the 2012/13 season in Idre as part of the IBU Cup and immediately won points by finishing tenth in a sprint. The highlight of the season was the 2013 Junior World Championships in Obertilliach , where the Norwegian narrowly missed out on a medal in fourth place against Clément Dumont . He finished ninth in the sprint and eleventh in the pursuit race. At the side of Erling Aalvik , Håvard Bogetveit and Johannes Thingnes Bø , he won the gold medal in the relay race. In the junior races of the European Championships , he did not start despite reports for sprint and individual.

Nationally, Gjermundshaug surprisingly won the singles title at the Norwegian Championships 2013 ahead of Lars Helge Birkeland and Dag Erik Kokkin . He benefited from the lack of some of the Norwegian elite athletes. With Kristoffer Skjelvik , Lars Berger and Jan Olav Gjermundshaug , he also won the season runner - up as a representative of the North-Østerdal region .
